Our homes are south facing to maximise the energy from the sun with large windows giving us 80% of our space heating. Our Tesla Powerwall systems help you monitor your energy consumption. One of the distinctive features of a Ty Solar home is the sense of well being when you enter one. Maximising the use of natural light enhancing that sense. We don’t use oil-based paints or adhesives thereby reducing the carcinogens in the rooms. The construction industry is responsible for over 40% of global emissions of CO2. All Ty Solar Homes have a low embodied carbon content, being made of timber which is locally sourced from sustainable woodlands. In addition, each home has its own mini power station producing carbon-free energy at the point of consumption. We estimate that a 4-bed Ty Solar home avoids up to 254 metric tonnes of carbon equivalent to the environmental benefit of planting 200,000 trees for the 1000 homes we plan to build.
